As the winter and snow have arrived, so have the use of snowmobiles, ATV’s, and other motorized vehicles (OMV) within Northfork. In 2012, the City of Ramsey changed the ordinances to allow snowmobiles, ATV’s, and OMV’s use of certain city streets south of 167th Street so they can access city designated parks and trails. The ordinance does not allow "open riding" across Ramsey, which includes Northfork. The same ordinances are still in place including:
-Riding on private property is prohibited unless property is 2.5 acres or larger
-Riding on others’ property is prohibited unless rider has written permission from the owner on their possession
-Tracks or trails (courses built or created by a repetitive or continued use of a snowmobile, ATV, OMV) on private property are prohibited in a residential area unless they are 1,000 feet from any residence except that of the owner; and at least 50 feet from property lines, public streets, utilities or easements.
(All Northfork properties fall under this 1,000 foot rule and therefore use of snowmobiles, ATV’s, and OMV’s within Northfork, including common areas, is prohibited.)
Winter is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the snow. The Board asks homeowners to have consideration for the common areas, your neighbors’ property, and your own property by complying with some simple rules. Also, please have a conversation with your children regarding snowmobiles, ATV’s, and OMV’s within Northfork.
Have a great 2015!
