Northfork HOA Committees

At this time, the Board of Directors has identified 7 Committees that carry out some specific needs of the Association.  We'd love your help to make Northfork a great community to live!  All committees are volunteer managed under the guidance of the Northfork Board of Directors.

AMENITIES

The Amenities Committee has two key accountabilities:  Maintenance of common properties: (Northfork Park, Northfork Trail, back lots) and managing the Oak Wilt prevention program. Common Properties
The Association owns Northfork Park (located at 160th Lane and Andrie Street) and Northfork Trail (located behind many of the homes on 164th Lane).  Both of these properties not only require annual maintenance, but also annual improvements, which require planning, coordination, and input from homeowners.  The Association also owns several other pieces of property throughout Northfork. At this time, we are focusing the majority of our attention on improving Northfork Park.  Potential improvements include perennial gardens, better swing sets, equipment shelter, and conversion of one of the tennis courts to a pickleball court.  We are also attempting to put together an improvement plan for all other properties we own and plan on receiving in the future.  You can look forward to hearing more about these plans in the near future.

 ARCHITECTURAL

The purpose of these guidelines is to ensure that new homes, additions, and exterior amenities are built in accordance with Article IX "Architectural Control" of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions for Northfork.  (See Members Section- Documents.)  Exterior amenities include playground equipment, storage sheds, pools, landscaping, etc. Procedure. Please provide the committee with a rough scale drawing of location, aesthetics, start and completion date of the project. The Committee generally meets at the on Wednesdays, when needed. If you have questions or concerns, please email a committee member.  Fines will be assessed to any homeowner who has failed to comply with the Architectural procedure pursuant to Section 9.2.

COVENANTS

Each residence or open lot in Northfork is governed by a set of covenants.  Within Northfork, there are several sets of covenants depending on when your lot was established or when your house was built.  Keeping these covenants straight and determining which covenants apply to which homes is an important job.  Also, identifying covenant violations and working with the homeowner and the Board of Directors and legal action may be taken against resolve the violation is the job of this Committee. While each set of covenants is slightly different, most cover a common set of issues, including: Architectural Control Maintenance of Common Property Easements and Improvements Rights of Homeowners and Mortgagees Covenants Compliance

SAFETY

In alignment with The Northfork Guiding Principles, the purpose of the Safety Committee is to promote neighborhood safety and property protection through programs like Nite to Unite and Neighborhood Crime Watch. Nite to Unite is a nationwide effort to unite citizens against crime.  It is sponsored by the Ramsey Police Department and is held the first week in August.  The Neighborhood Watch Program is based on residents assuming a more active role in making their communities safe.  The Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that: Teaches citizens techniques to reduce the risk of being victimized at home and in public; Trains citizens on the importance of recognizing suspicious activities and how to report them; Teaches participants how to make their homes more secure and properly identify their property; Allows neighbors to get to know each other and their routines so that any out of place activity can be reported and investigated; Creates a cohesive body of concerned citizens addressing issues which concern the entire community. Through programs like Nite to Unite and Neighborhood Crime Watch, Northfork residents and the Ramsey Police Department can work closer together in a positive atmosphere to reduce criminal activity in our neighborhood.
